Asalamu Alaikum, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the Muslim Life Hackers podcast.I'm your host, Mifrah Mahroof, and in today's episode, I'm going to be sharing with you some lessons that I learned from my friend who recently passed away. So my friend, Sohret Hussein, passed away quite young. She was in her 40s and was something that happened quite suddenly. And heartbreaking to many people. So many people attested to the amazing character and righteousness that she had. And I was blessed to be her friend for one and a half decades. And so in this episode, I want to share with you some life lessons that I learned from her life. And this was further motivated because one of the things that she wanted to have was a podcast. And so I hope to dedicate this podcast episode to her and hope that it is a means of benefit and good deeds for her. So the first lesson that I think about when I remember Sohret is the importance of building a legacy and continuing to keep that in mind until the end. So Sohret was one of my growth buddies. So we would continuously be speaking about how we can improve as individuals and how can we be able to benefit our communities. And she did some great work during her lifetime and things that I just heard about after she passed away. And what this reminds me of is the guidance that we have from the Prophet SAW. The whole aspect of when Day of Judgment is coming, then if you have a seed in your hand, then plant it, because it's all about whatever action we can do during this limited time and the reward that Allah SWT will give us. One thing that I really took away from her life is the importance of being conscious and being a forerunner, really trying your best to leave behind a legacy, contribute wherever you can. And remember that a contribution is not just something that you just do when you're young, when you're at university, in your MSA or something. Although that is a very golden opportunity, especially for the young listeners here, but sometimes, it can be that we go through that phase and that is just a phase and then we get busy with life, with career, and that whole contributing back to our communities becomes something that's in the back burner. It's not really a big priority. So we all have unique ways with our own situation, with our families, and we all have a unique way to contribute. And I think that it's very important to be mindful of that and mindful of the kind of legacy and the kind of contribution you want to leave. So in addition to this point is the importance of making sure that you have good intentions. So in the case of my friend, she wasn't able to complete some of these projects that she did have in mind. However, she had that good intention. She had that intention that she wanted to do it, and InshaAllah Allah SWT gives her that reward for having that intention. So, I guess the main points from this lesson is having an intention to contribute and having your own Ummah project and being mindful of that until the end of your life. And also building your legacy doesn't really mean that, you should be doing something fancy or being a social media influencer, also what I learned from Sohret is that building a legacy doesn't always mean being on social media and posting everywhere, although there is a time and place for that. It also means just finding opportunities for good whenever it comes up. Like for example, one of your friends gave birth, so you send food to them, or someone in your family needs help, or some young person needs some advice about careers and just sitting down and just spending some time to mentor them. So we all have unique ways and we all have these unique opportunities that come up in our life. And once we set that intention that we want to build our legacy and we want to contribute and be a benefit to the people around us, then Allah SWT starts opening up those opportunities. So the second lesson that I take away from Sohret's life is the importance of just leaving that which doesn't concern you. I mean, one thing that really stands out about Sohret is that she never really busied herself with talking about other people. And it's not something that's very common, because especially as women, we might find ourselves in circles in which people are talking about other people, or like people are involved in whatever's the latest news happening around people. But one thing with Sohret was, she just focused on herself and the things that were in her control and how she can be a better person and how she can be able to benefit the community. So I think that is something that has to be said and the importance of leaving things which don't concern you. So what happens when you leave that which doesn't concern you is that your mind starts freeing up and your mind starts freeing up and you can fill it with things that are actually important to you and that actually makes life more better and causes less headaches because the thing is when you busy yourself, what other people are doing and it doesn't really concern you, then it's just junk food for your mind. And so I would really encourage you to be mindful of that and see what are you consuming? Does it really concern you? or is it something that's not really needed in your life and it's just taking up unnecessary space? Because the problem when we fill our heads with all this unnecessary stuff is that we don't have space for creativity. We don't have space to find out ways to improve ourselves and how to benefit the people around us and just live our best lives, really. So that's been definitely a big lesson for me. Finally, the third lesson from Sohret's life is the importance of having righteous friends. So when I mean righteous friends, people who love Allah SWT, love the Prophet SAW and wants to live their life in accordance to that. So really people who remind you of Allah SWT. So the beautiful thing about having friendships with righteous people is that the friendship that you have doesn't just last this lifetime, but it lasts beyond that as well in the hereafter, InshaAllah. So that's something that brings a lot of comfort to my heart and there's such a beauty in that, and I would encourage you to take the time to audit your friend's circle and not get rid of people, but be more conscious about your company that you keep or who you really let into your inner circle and see if they are people who are righteous and remind you of Allah SWT, have you think about not just this life, but the hereafter as well. So there you have it. These are the three lessons that I took away from Sohret's life. Obviously there are more, and I can't really limit the amazing things that I've learned from Sohret in just three lessons. But for the sake of this video, I just picked the top three. Please do keep her in your du'as. May Allah SWT bless her, reward her, and raise her up in ranks in the hereafter. she was such a beautiful soul. Many people loved her And when she passed away, it was clear that she was a very special person. So thanks again. And I hope to catch you again in our next episode.
